Boston Celtics and Jrue Holiday Agree On Four Year Extension

By DJ Harding

The Boston Celtics after acquiring Jrue Holiday during the previous offseason have now agreed to a four year contract extension.

The Extension is worth $135 million dollars and will also have Holiday decline his $37.3 million dollar player option for the 2024-25 season to sign this long term deal.

Holiday becomes the fourth player to sign a $100 million or more guaranteed deal at 33 years old or older joining Lebron James, Stephen Curry, and Al Horford.

This deal will also help cut costs for Boston as they aim to keep their expensive core of Tatum, Brown, Prozingis, White, and Holiday.

This move also mirrors Holiday’s time in Milwaukee when he signed an extension after a few months with the Bucks after leaving the New Orleans Pelicans.

Similar to his time in Milwaukee Holiday will look to win an NBA Championship and an Olympic Gold Medal in the same year which he did in 2021 and could do in 2024 with the Celtics and with Team USA in Paris.
