With the wave of NFL free agency coming towards it, it’s time to go over all the transactions going on in New England with the Patriots.
First let’s go to the departures from the Patriots starting with the biggest headline from this group, Mac Jones. Mac Jones was traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars for a sixth round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Jones was the only departure from New England from trade. The Patriots had a few releases from the roster with wide receiver Devante Parker and linebacker Chris Board.
New England also lost a few players to free agency, Mike Gesicki the Patriots tight end heads to Cincinnati after playing in New England after one year. Treant Brown after three years in New England the offensive tackle will also head to Cincinnati to become a Bengal. Jalen Mills is another departure who now travels to New York on a one year deal with the Giants after the cornerback played two seasons in New England. The final departure from the Patriots is linebacker Mack Wilson who signed a three year deal with the Arizona Cardinals.
The Patriots also had a group of players returning to Foxbourogh with wide receivers Jalen Reagor, Kendrick Bourne, offensive tackles Michael Onwenu, Tyrone Wheatlty Jr, quarterback Nathan Rourke, and tight end Hunter Henry all returning on offense. On the defense, cornerback Alex Austin, linebacker Christian Elliss, and edge rushers Josh Uche, and Anfernee Jennings all resigned on defense for New England.
During this free agency period Patriots Safety Kyle Dugger received a transition tag and New England signed Jacoby Brissett. Brissett is now back in New England after being the Patriots 2016 third round pick and leaving after his rookie season.
Finally the new arrivals in New England during the free agency period. Defensive lineman Armon Watts, and linebacker Sione Takitaki are the only defenders joining New England.
On Offense offensive lineman Nick Leverett, Chukwuma Okorafor, tight end Austin Hooper, wide receiver K.J. Osborn, and Running Back Antonio Gibson join the Patriots for the 2024-25 NFL Season.
New England will have another batch of newcomers at the end of April when the NFL Draft takes place in Detroit Michigan on April 25 through 27.
