UConn showed an impressive performance on Saturday night at the Amica Mutual Pavilion in downtown Providence, securing a convincing 74-60 win against Providence College.
Providence struggled to find their rhythm, finishing 20-57 from the field, 8-27 from beyond the arc, and 12-16 from the free-throw line. Meanwhile, UConn was on fire, finishing 29-68 from the field, 11-27 from three, and 5-6 from the free-throw line.
The Huskies had an outstanding performance from Karaban, who scored 16 points, grabbed one offensive rebound, two defensive rebounds, and recorded two steals. Castle also had an impressive game, registering 14 points, one offensive rebound, five defensive rebounds, three assists, and four steals. Clingan, Newton, and Spencer combined to add 37 points to UConn’s win. Clingan had an excellent game with seven defensive rebounds, two assists, and two blocks, while Newton contributed three offensive rebounds, five defensive rebounds, and five assists.
For Providence, Carter was the standout performer, scoring 24 of the Friars’ 60 points and grabbing one offensive rebound, 14 defensive rebounds, four assists, two steals, and two blocks. He finished 9-19 from the field, 2-7 from three, and 4-6 from the free-throw line.
